Abstract
Truth, no doubt, is of immense value for human existence in the world. However, giving a rationally satisfactory definition of truth, appears to be hard sale. With each theory of truth in epistemology proposed, but readily calling forth severe criticisms from those of opposing camps, efforts at getting the actual handle of what truth is, appears foredoomed. This paper enquires into the cause of this problem and seeks to contribute towards remedying it. Convinced that truth is a far comprehensive reality than a singly theory can adequately capture, the paper identifies the cause of the problem in the exclusivist approach each theory adopts in tackling the issue. As way forward, the paper argues for and adopts an inclusive approach. To this end, it proposes a new and complementary theory of truth, namely, Agratosystema, where truth is ratified in the appropriate fusion of the theoretical formal accuracy of coherence and the practical material adequacy of correspondence. The paper concludes with the conviction in the theory’s potential to resolve the problem by offering a more comprehensive theory of truth. The analytic and integrative methods of research are adopted in the paper.
